Yay, finally some snow this winter! Guess that means it’s time for me to post again! Life has been pretty boring the past few months. All I’ve really been doing is working.
Although, the week after Christmas Liesle certainly made things interesting. She decided one afternoon that she could take her coffee table down her flight of stairs by herself. Probably needless to say she and the table both ended up at the bottom of the stairs - Liesle much worse for the wear. She shattered her elbow and needed two surgerys to put it back together. For the next three weeks I spent much of my time off “babysitting” her since she was one-handed. She’s still out of work now, and probably will be for the next three months. She’s recovering well, if she would just keep up with her physical therapy.
The wedding has been postponed again. I couldn’t get up the money to pay back Stockton in time, so my return there has been pushed back another semester. Plus, my cousin Teal got engaged and her wedding is in October, four months before I wanted mine. But I hadn’t announced a date so she was free to pick whatever date she wanted. I don’t think my family could handle two weddings in four months. Some of my family in Virgina don’t come up to visit once in four years. I don’t think they’ll make it twice in four months.
I’m looking forward to March 3. I have made plans and have been able to finally afford a trip away somewhere. Jenn from work has gone back to school in North Carolina, so I’m flying down to spend a few days with her over her spring break. I was really debating whether I should be taking the trip, seeing as how I’m over my head in debt. The plane ticket only cost $100 round trip. Then I was worried about having spending money while I was there. But I got a postcard in the mail a few weeks ago from Target saying that they had a check for $277 for me. I knew when I left that I was still owed another paycheck, I’m not sure what happened there, but hopefully that check’s in the mail already. So I’m going to stash that away when it gets here and it’ll be my spending money. I was also concerned about taking the time off of work. I didn’t have any vacation time or personal days the last time I checked, so I knew that I would be losing about 4 days worth of work. But I happened to be talking to the Krissy, the girl who makes the schedule, about my plans and how I wasn’t sure I could afford to lose the days of work, and she looked at me like I was crazy. She said, “you know you have 40 hours vacation time and a personal day, right?” Of course, I didn’t know, so I was estatic when I checked the report and found out that she was right. So I have it worked out that my flight to North Carolina leaves on Friday, March 3 at 10:30 a.m. so I should be there by noon. Jenn says it’s about an hour and a half drive from Raleigh to Wingate University, about 20 miles south of Charlotte. I’ll be there until Tuesday the 7th, my flight leaves Raleigh at 8 p.m. so I’ll be home around 11:00. Wednesday I have off to recouperate, and Thursday I’m going to the Philadelphia Flower Show with my parents and grandmother. They’re coming up to the apartment in the morning, then we’ll all hop the train into the city. Thursday night I’ll finally return to work. I’ve been working at Wawa for a year now, so I think my vacation is well-deserved. Plus, because my vacation is straddling two weeks, I only ended up using 21 of my vacation hours, so I have 19 hours left, plus 8 hours of personal time. So that’s almost a whole week that I can take later with Ben if I wrap it around two weeks again and use regular time off as well. Plus, Julie said she thinks I get 8 hours of personal time every three months, so I may have more than that to use for the rest of the year.
Well, I guess that’s about it. I can’t think of anything else to write about at the momet. So I think I’ll go and veg out in front of the TV for a while.
