Divorce is RrruuffffI heard this piece on “This American Life” on NPR last weekend. While the story of the guy being blindsided by a divorce is heartbreaking, the author’s imagned monologue of what “Puppy Boy” would have to say about the situation is hillarious. While listening to it, I could imagine that this is exactly what a dog would have to say about the situation:
Divorce is Rrruuffff
This piece brings to mind two dogs for me. First I thought of Ben’s Mom’s Dalmation, Gally. He LOVES to play ball and is very upset when you ignore him. Second I though of a dog that has sadly passed away, Liesle’s dog Heidi. She would bring any piece of ANYTHING she could find and expect you to throw it so she could fetch it.
This recording is of Merrill Markoe’s “Divorce is Rrruuffff” as heard on “This American Life” and recorded at Un-Cabaret.

At first I was intrigued by this little item. I have been going through all kinds of wedding websites lately trying to find things I need for my wedding. While going through the “General Wedding Decorations” at WeddingMountain.com, I found this “Reception Apron.” My first thought was that this must be meant for some sort of reception game or tradition that I hadn’t heard of. Intrigued, I clicked on it to see their description of it to see what in the world it would be used for. No lie, here is their exact description:
“White, sheer polyester apron is perfect for servers at the reception and dinner.”
Wait, what?! I’m now supposed to dictate the attire of the catering staff?! I’ve heard of “bridezillas” trying to control every single aspect of their weddings, but this has got to be waaaaaaay over the line. I’ve never even heard of a catering staff wearing something innapropriate to a wedding. Besides, these things are so cheesy looking. And tacky. I can’t imagine anyone would mandate these as staff attire for their reception!
