Hey Em, it’s been soooooooo incredibly long since we’ve seen each other…or talked for that matter…but reading this blog made me realize you are still the same exact person I remember from so long ago. Strong-willed, knows what she wants, sensitive, accurate, plan-oriented…etc. And the splurts about your mom really made me laugh. And that’s not to be mean, but it just reminded me of conversations when we were kids about how your mom wanted one thing and you wanted another. Memories….

Reading this post makes me not want to even think about weddings for a long time. There are so many people’s feelings to consider and when parents hold the purse strings, it gets even more stressful.

Hmmmmm…….New Year’s Eve. I could get into that. Just think. Every year, you guys could host the New Year’s Eve party and get Anniversary Gifts as well!

And, your mom would have the whole week off in between. Sounds like the perfect solution to me. Also, Don would like to remind you, if you do have your wedding on New Year’s Eve, you get to file as “married” for the year and get the tax benefits (Duh….always the romantic).

Yeah….New Year’s Eve!

I know I will probably sound like an idiot, but why not do the wedding the week between Christmas and New Years’? Not only do lots of people have off (so you could have it on a weekday, which is cheaper), but they could take off more easily (because very little work goes on during that week), and you could have your anniversary close to a holiday so you could celebrate that together every year. In fact, if you had it on New Year’s Eve (which is a Wednesday this year), you could even combine an anniversary part with a New Year’s party every year from here to infinity if you want.

Also, your mom would have off from school (because I’m pretty sure no schools have classes that week, right?) so she could help you with last-minute details. And Ben would get the winter wedding that he wants, etc, etc. PLUS - you could conceivably do it a little sooner!

I dunno, just a thought.
